We had Bob contracted to re-finish the hot tub at the Hampton Inn & Suites in July of 2015. The job was supposed to be guaranteed for life as he was going to lay fiberglass in the hot tub over the existing plaster. Within 45 days the fiberglass started bubbling and finally got holes in and, then started peeling away from the sides and the bottom of the tub. At first we were told that the application didn't stick for fault of our own. After Bob came out to see the problem he admitted it was shoddy installation on the part of his sub-contractor. We were told that we would get a refund for the $8000 we paid for the job to get done since we had to have it all re-done and I was not going to trust Bob and his sub-contractor to do it again.

It is now the middle of July 2016 and we have received only half of the money back that we were promised, and I can not get a response from Bob at his listed business number or his cell phone, nor have I gotten a response to any recent text messages. I think he thinks this will just go away.

I would highly suggest that nobody does business with Tundra Spas as their promises go unfulfilled and they do not respond or follow through to calls or attempts to contact them.

I first met Bob of Tundra Spas several years ago, and I believe he has a good heart and intentions. However, he's pretty much a one-man operation, and can't do it all. It's unfortunate, because his business has the potential to be awesome if someone could be trained to help him, that actually takes pride in their work. He could have a nice business which could make a very good living.
** My experience is not terrible, but it isn't over the top either. He comes when he says he will, and does his best work when he's the one working on whatever the problem is. On several occasions at a rental property I own, Bob has come out, fixed whatever needed fixing, and billed afterwards. I always paid what he asked for in a timely manner, and whatever he did always fixed the problem. (If I had given him a review back then, it would be 5-stars).
That is until 2018, when I had a tenant move out, leaving a broken hot tub in her wake. (The tenant and I had an agreement that she was to be responsible for the hot tub repairs if anything should occur.) Bob acknowledged that she did call him, but whatever he did didn't fix the problem, and according to her, Bob told her "she'd paid enough", which I felt interfered in the relationship I had with my tenant. Of course when I discovered that the hot tub needed repairs, I asked Bob to fix it. Instead of indicating what the problem was, ordering whatever parts he needed, and fixing it, he simply put the cover on (didn't charge for his time), and said he was done. I had no idea what that really meant, and I guess he got tired, because to this day, my hot tub still doesn't work. I was disappointed that Bob didn't seem to have the time or energy it takes to fix the problems, but I was angry because this was the first time he'd actually interfered with an agreement between my tenant and I, and been so disrespectful. This attitude is deserving of ZERO stars. **
I don't have any experience with Bob's apprentices or sub-contractors, but it seems like now would be a good time for him to get one and start training again, because everyone's out of work. If someone would be willing to work hard and be responsible for their work they could have a nice piece of the American dream. Also, considering that there's really only one spa outfit in Fairbanks, besides Bob.... once he goes, they've got a monopoly. Competition is a good thing folks.

I'm giving Tundra Spas 3 stars because once upon a time, he was excellent. But, now.... I'm definitely not impressed!

It has been over 60 days since I was promised the delivery of my new spa as of this reviews posting date. I have called every 2 weeks since the promised delivery date to see what is going on. Each time I was told the info will be given to the owner. There has been a minimum of 5 calls to acquire info and one asking for my money back. To say the least, customer service is definitely not on the top of their list or I would have at least received one phone call back from the owner if he was truly committed to providing a good customer service. Needless to say, I would approach this business with great caution if looking for a spa. If I ever get my money back, I will definitely be looking somewhere else.
