I wish I could give Riley ten stars! She is amazing. She does blonde beautifully! She fixed the mess that Vivid hair salon did to my hair. She is so sweet and works so fast! She did an four hour job in three and is very easy to talk to. I will never go anywhere else. So thankful I found a good stylist. Finally!!

Absolutely love S Salon! I've gone to Liza for years, and she always does absolutely amazing work! In that time, I have watched what everyone else in the shop turn out; it is an immensely talented team. I've only had one other stylist from S Salon, Skyler, do my hair before and she was super nice, easy to talk to, and knew what she was doing. I would recommend any one of the stylists here, no doubt!

Both my husband and I had our hair styled and cut by Elle. She is one of the apprentices at the salon and she did an AMAZING job! She completely transformed my husband's look, I have never seen him more stylish in the 11 years we have been together. My hair was the challenge, due to the fact I wanted a blue to purple ombre color. Far from being intimated by the challenge, Elle took the time to plan the color which shows in the awesome results! I couldn't be happier with my color if I tried. Thanks Elle and everyone at S Salon & Studio for a wonderful product and experience. We will be back.

I always love S salon! I've been going here to get my hair done since Scott opened the shop and my mother goes there too. The atmosphere is always inviting with creative energy. I love how Scott supports local artists and events too. Highly recommend Scott and Brittany (currently she's a student but will graduate this spring/summer). I'm sure others there are great too, but I've only had Scott and Brittany do my hair. They also do makeup there!

I love seeing Riley at S Salon! She always makes me look amazing, and feel great while sitting in her chair. Recently, I made the switch to my natural curly hair. She made sure I knew how to properly take care of it, while using the right product. But here’s the best part....she didn’t force the product! She taught me the best way to take care of my hair and gave me options for products, if I wanted them! I don’t like a sales pitch and she never made me feel like a sale. Riley has also taken me on a path from my natural dark hair to hi-lights, and balayage. She listens to me and we are both clear about what the end look will be. I trust Riley with my hair, so much so that she also cuts my boys’ hair. From my teenager to my young one she’s always done a great job with making them look like the amazing young men they are. Riley has also done my hair and make up for several events and every time I learn more about looking beautiful and not overdone. I always feel welcomed at S Salon and their Covid policies make me feel safe while being there. It’s taken me many years to find a salon and stylist that I trust and feel comfortable with, Riley is it!!

I am in Alaska for a one year military assignment. I had my hair cut once before at another salon in AK and was not thrilled with the cut; however, I understand that sometimes, the bad cut is the direct result of a poor description of the desired style (on the part of the client). I digress..
I have medium / tight curly hair and have always been very careful in choosing a stylist. I ran across the S Salon through google maps search and it had fairly good reviews and I was eager to get a new cut for my impending vacation. My overall experience was positive, and after settling down, my hair looks & feels fantastic. In an attempt to remain objective and concise, I am outlining the pros and cons below. For me, the pros far outweigh the cons.

Cons:
Noisy, busy salon (If you like a quiet relaxing experience, this can be off putting)
Online scheduling program seems inoperative
My stylist's personality was a bit overpowering
Parking was scarce (park on the street if you can)

Pros:
Salon scheduled me on short notice
Receptionist was professional and helpful
Salon (although packed with people) was clean and well organized
My cut turned out beautifully
The owner sent me home with a complimentary sample pack of the products used on my hair.
Salon supports local artists
Waiting area is clean and spacious with beverage offerings (receptionist offered me a beverage)

NOTE: I had no idea what a "Deva cut" was. Turns out, it is just a dry cut meant to preserve the natural curl pattern of the hair. Apparently, the Deva cut is an effective method as my curls have come back to their natural glory 😉

Highly Recommended! I loved the haircut I got from Scott, it is an amazing complex cut, yet easy to style either curly or straight. Scott gave me a lot of 'curl education' and how to enhance my natural curl, and I love it so much I don't think I will be blowing it out straight any time soon. Although it looks great both ways. S Salon is in a great downtown location and the employees are always nice, available, and attentive. Win, win, win!
