Mellow Moon Lodge is such a cute place!! To start, the owner, Lauren is the sweetest, most down-to-earth person. We were originally booked for 3 nights but couldn't make it the first night because of work commitments and she was very flexible with us. Additionally, every morning during our stay a text message came in from her wishing us a good day and letting us know that fresh coffee and fixings were in the lounge and if we needed anything, to just reach out. In fact all the staff we encountered were warm and friendly. The room was clean and quaint, with funky decor and recommendations for places to eat and visit. They were pretty full the couple nights we were there, but the other guests were quiet and respectful. We are excited to come back when their restaurant opens!

This woman owned motel is newly renovated & super cute! The service I received after having to cancel due to inclement weather and re-book was phenomenal! Lauren took great care in communicating with us. The rooms had new flooring, really comfortable bedding with a good design. The water pressure could be improved and the room felt a little stark but the in-room fridge, and common area canteen was a lifesaver! Del Norte is lucky to have such a thoughtful spot to be a home base your adventures!

This was a wonderful experience. We were headed to the Sand Dunes, and everything closer had horrific reviews (which I tend to find close to the National Parks. No where else to stay, so why do a good job?)

Check-in was via text and was simple and easy. Even after booking through a 3rd party.

The room was simple and just what we needed. The bed was comfortable, and we slept well.

The shower was pretty great by hotel standards.

They had a water filling station, which was perfect before heading to the park.

They have a little store with snacks and other items available.

Look at the pictures and know where you're staying. This is a great roadside hotel and I'm sure it will get better over time as well.

I rented several rooms here for my son’s wedding this past weekend. The rooms were all very clean and comfortable. The property is very nice and Lauren was so accommodating. We needed to access the rooms early so we could get ready for the wedding and she made sure we had everything we needed. The lounge was a very nice space for our family and friends to enjoy a little more time together after the wedding. I would recommend this gem to everyone.

The Mellow Moon is perhaps the best hotel I’ve been able to stay. Everything about the room is clean, comfortable and inviting. After a long day on the road it was so nice to have such a pleasant place to call home for a night. Many nice touches that you don’t normally find in larger chain hotels. My only regret is that I wasn’t able to stay a few more days. Hoping to be able to come back one day soon for an extended stay.

Mellow Moon was the perfect home base for my team when we visited Del Norte for a week of meetings. The rooms were lovely, comfortable, and well-appointed. I personally loved the robes! We also enjoyed the patio and lounge, and the canteen had snacks, supplies, and kombucha for sale. The cafe wasn't open while we were there, but it looks like it is going to be great. In the meantime, we had great coffee a few blocks down the street at Raisin' Rye.

We can't wait to come back to Del Norte and Mellow Moon. Thanks for hosting us, Lauren!

Adorable renovated motel with so many wonderful touches. We stayed in the family room and the kids loved that there was a train set to play with. The beds were very comfortable. If we're in Del Norte again, we would definitely be back!

This is my new happy place in the San Luis Valley! Our go-to stop to recharge on a long road trip we take a few times a year. A *lovely* little boutique hotel with wonderful decor, cozy rooms, and personal touch I’ve never experienced anywhere else. The owner and staff truly care about guests and their experience. For a long time Del Norte was just a place we passed through, now it’s a place we’ll always stop and spend some time. And when we do we’ll stay here!
