Dr. Steven Kipferl quite literally helped me reclaim my life, wellbeing, and happiness. I was left disabled after a “minimally invasive bunionectomy” performed by another surgeon in March 2023. I went from being an avid outdoors-oriented person with an active lifestyle of hiking, biking, and daily long walks with my husband…to someone living with chronic, unrelenting metatarsalgia pain with every step. It was affecting my gait, my knee, my hip, and destroying my back. By the time I met Dr. Kipferl in Feb of 2024, I’d seen 4 other podiatrists who either said that was the way my life would remain or offered me a “corrective” surgery that didn’t align with any of the published research I’d read. Thankfully, my friends and family kept encouraging me to continue seeking additional opinions. It wasn’t until I met Dr. Steven Kipferl that I felt the first glimmer of hope. He was the ONLY doctor to order a CT scan of my foot. He was the only doctor who discovered the malunion in my first metatarsal caused my body to fill the bone with cysts. He was the only doctor who recognized the need to LENGTHEN the bone (rather than shorten my other toes or re-do the bunionectomy as others suggested. Those procedures would’ve further debilitated me). He spent HOURS talking with me prior to surgery. He was reassuring, patient, confident but not cocky, capable, and willing. He saw me as a person who deserved to reclaim my lifestyle…rather than a middle-aged woman who simply needed to adjust to her current circumstances. We scheduled surgery for March 2024, and he assured me I’d be dancing at our oldest daughter’s wedding in June and back to hiking and jogging this summer. The surgery went exactly as he described; he took his time and matched my damaged foot to my natural one. He saw me every single week afterward, for months. Each week he told me exactly what was taking place inside my foot and what to expect. I did *exactly* what he told me to do. And, it’s with tears rolling down my face as I type these next two words: I HEALED. I did dance at our daughter’s wedding. I recently went on a huge hiking trip through the Upper Peninsula with my husband. And I no longer live in constant debilitating pain. If I could give Dr. K 10 stars, I would. He is the best doctor I have ever known. His competence gave me peace of mind, while his compassion gave me hope. I’m not going to lie, the months of non-weight-bearing, no driving, and rehab were incredibly difficult and disruptive. But each visit with him lifted my spirits and helped me get through it. And, I’d do it again and again with him by side, knowing how it’s all turned out. I cannot recommend him enough.

I injured my foot, breaking the heel bone inside and making a mess of it. Dr. Kipferl has treated this and the original wound is gone, despite the diabetic issues I've been dealing with. He's very knowledgeable and considers the whole patient when caring for people, and has been invaluable in treating this injury.

Their office staff is polite, friendly and hard-working as well, and the entire office works well together. I would recommend this practice for anything related to feet and foot care.

Dr Stephen Kipferl is the best surgeon around. He is meticulous with his work, in the operating room and in his office. He literally has saved my leg and foot many times in the last year. His knowledge and expertise in wounds is astounding. The staff in the office is the best. They have patience and always ready to help in any way they can. After suffering for over 6 months, my podiatrist put me in a boot to help with planner fasciitis. I also had orthopedics made. I was still in pain and not getting any better. I went to see Dr. Kipferl for a second opinion. He not only explained things more clearly, but also informed me that the orthotics that I had were not properly supporting my foot. I’m still in the process of healing, but, I already feel a difference!
