I started here in February 2024 just getting wash+deep condition+ blow dry. After I take my weaves out I book this service with them. My hair Isiah more manageable at home!!! I’m so happy. My hair retains moisture better. It rarely knots up and easy to comb through. Thank you Harlem Natural

This was my first time coming to this salon. The hairstylist arrived a few minutes late. Walked in, walked past me sitting in her chair. I’m very big on professionalism and quality of service so that was already not a good start. She came back and asked me what my name was. If I were the hairstylist I would prep myself to greet all of my clients by name and introduce myself. She never told me her name. No one said good morning besides the receptionist. I told her what I wanted which was to cut my relaxed hair off the ends. She responded “where” when I removed my hat because she couldn’t see the relaxed hair at first I guess and then said “oh I see it”. My hair was washed, conditioned, cut, and steamed but while preparing to wash my hair I told her I would like to use my own products. She basically undermined my products and made faces when I showed her what I wanted in MY HAIR. I really wanted to walk out at that point but I wanted to give this place a chance. The wash was very basic I could have done it at home and actually massaged my scalp. It was nothing special or worth $35. The steam being an extra $30 is ridiculous. While cutting my hair she said “it’s going to be short” as if I was worried about length. My goal is to grow my natural hair and make it healthy before prioritizing length. If you are treating natural hair you should ask questions prior, examine the hair, recommend a hair regimen, etc but none of that was done. She didn’t even ask why I wanted to use those specific products I told her to use and there is indeed a medical reason. I asked if she would use my curl cream but she said that it would be extra to style my hair when I literally have no hair on my head it’s a twa. I ended up putting the product in myself. She then must have saw I was not feeling the vibe and tried to recommend I use a curl clustered which I had but since it’s additional to style I didn’t even respond or engage with her. I just said thanks and left it there. The vibe was off and I didn’t feel welcomed. I will not be going back and I will not be recommending this salon to anyone with natural hair. Not worth the price!

I had a lovely experience at Harlem Natural Hair Salon! I called the day of after an issue with scheduling and after being told they were booked, I was promptly called back and told they could take me. Customer service was top notch! I was greeted promptly and warmly from everyone when I walked in. Very positive and quiet atmosphere. My stylist Bahia was incredibly personable, knowledgeable, and professional. I went in for a wash, deep condition, and blow dry to prep my hair for a braid service I was receiving elsewhere. I also received a trim. I have not had a salon experience in a long time, and I was grateful for the care my hair received! Bahia worked quickly without feeling like she was rushing. She also explained everything she was doing and the products she was using on my head. My hair and scalp were both happy campers when they left the salon and I’m glad to have a place to care for my natural hair.

The only point of concern is that I was offered a trim and not told that it was an additional $35. Besides my strong personal opinion that $35 is an inappropriate price point for the trimming of hair, the lack of transparency felt bad. I needed the trim and would have happily paid for it had I been told the price ahead of time. Being told would have also given me the choice to decide what I wanted to do based on transparent knowledge of the service; not a surprise when I was checking out. It should also be noted that the prices online do not reflect the prices charged in the salon. The receptionist quoted the correct prices over the phone, but I ended up paying about double the amount I thought I would from originally booking online.

Personally, I’m willing to pay the price knowing that my hair is being so well taken care of, but it was unfortunate to have such an overwhelmingly positive experience end in such a surprise.

All that to say, I’ve already booked my next appointment and I look forward to returning. It was an expensive learning curve, but I know what to expect now and I will ensure I get clarity on all price points next time. I am glad to have a place to take care of my hair. Highly recommend this salon. I enjoyed my overall experience and I think you will, too.

I’ve only been once before a trip to Puerto Rico about 4 years ago but my hair was in the best shape of my life after my appointment!

I actually cut my hair about 2 years ago but have been growing it back and I will be taking my self to this salon soon so they can get me right again!

Working with Amanda was a great pleasure. While the service ended up being a bit more expensive than expected, the results were certainly worth the results and quality of her service. She helped to educate me about my hair and to strategize how to better manage it. For anyone with Afro-hair who struggles with managing it, this is a great place to get it styled and pick up tips for hair care.

I came to Harlem Natural Hair salon with my daughter whose hair got extremely tangled during our vacation. My husband and I tried to untangle it ourselves but it seemed completely hopeless. When I called the salon I got same day appointment which was a lifesaver for us. Our stylist was Lucinda and I cannot thank her enough for how she handled my daughter’s hair. She did an amazing job untangling incredibly matted hair and saving as much as possible, at the same time being super gentle and encouraging. My daughter left the salon with a great haircut and was so happy.
Our experience there was amazing. Thank you so much Lucinda! Highly recommend this salon!

They provide great service… I just can’t afford them, apparently. Especially because they will tell you one price and you end up paying more than twice that.

It seems justified, but doesn’t leave you with the best feeling when you’re on a budget.

I had a consultation appointment schedule to be held at 12 noon. I didn't get to see the stylist until 12:50. I was annoyed but I overlooked the lateness. After meeting with the stylist we discussed what would be best style for the thinning hair. I was pleased with her suggestions and went ahead and scheduled an appointment for me and my granddaughter. I'll give another rating after we get our hair styled on the next visit.
