I was in the area doing some work and decided to stop in to inquire about a haircut. Upon walking in the barbershop seems clean and well kept. I wanted to support this business because it is presumably black owned and the sign on the front said we support our troops and so do I.

The shop was completely empty except for 3 barbers. I asked if they had an instagram, business card or anyway to showcase their work. 2 of the 3 said no. Only one did MikoSlicedEm on Instagram. He gave me a card and I stepped outside to finish my work. While walking out one of the other barbers made a joke/comment that I looked like I needed to get a haircut now. Well obviously that’s why I came in. I didn’t take offense this is typical barbershop banter from my experience at other barbershops.

I took a look at Miko’s Instagram and he seems to do really good work. If you go here I would recommend using him. He is at the front as soon as you walk in, he has braids and glasses if I’m not mistaken. He seemed very welcoming.

Why the 1 star review?

After quickly finishing what I was doing to on my phone I went back in to ask a few questions(I.e. price, appointment setting, availability…)

I jokingly asked who was the best barber. The barber directly behind Mikos chair seemed to be some what annoyed/ upset by this question. Lighten up! He was a medium brown complexion wearing a beanie seemed to be bald and had a big beard. I did not get his name and he is not to be confused with the light skin guy who is also bald with a beard. I am assuming this guy is the owner. Because the other barbers didn’t say anything. He told me to go to another shop up the street based on this question. I was confused, was it that serious? You have the right to refuse service but brother relax. A better response would have been we are all good or we’re not in competition.

This is a perfect example of poor customer service. Which based on other reviews seems to be an issue here sometimes.

Also to the brother that told me to go to another shop this is terrible leadership. You’re not only turning away a potential client for you business but also a potential client for the other barbers. Based on how empty the shop was business could always be better. Granted it was a weekday and before noon. Regardless I have been in countless barbershops that are busy during these hours. This could be a reflection of the poor customer service or just the abrasive nature of the “owner” .

Additionally too the two barbers without a business card it’s 2024 how do you not have a business card, Instagram or some type of service/app to showcase your work? I mean the pictures on yelp are over seven years old. I attempted to call the shop to discuss this interaction with the person I encountered, but the number listed online is disconnected. I wanted to have a conversation with him before I posted a review because it is a black owned business and I don’t want to give a negative review based on this one instant. I even thought about still booking with Miko because as I said it looks like he does great work. But I didn’t want to cause any conflict with the owner. So I will be going elsewhere and I would advise that if you are in the Augusta area and you want to be treated with good customer service go somewhere else.

If you do go here by chance or out of convenience use Miko he seems to be the only one with some idea on what good customer service is and you can see his work prior to getting a cut!

Again this review is not to criticize the skills of the barbers I didn’t even make it to the chair but rather the terrible service I received.

Service is quick. They take walk-ins. Never spent more than 20 minutes to get my son hair cut. They are professional and prices are reasonable. I recommend Brent. But all are very good Barbers.

Derrick the barber was horrible to my children . He talked poorly in regards to how I parent my boys as a mother . My 6 yr old was frighten and sad bc of how aggressive the barbers approaches were . He even stood up to fight my 15 yr old after my son defended us against Mr. Derrick’s harsh words and negligence. If you want good service this is not the place to bring your love ones. Weed ? smoke greeted us at the door ?.
