All of the staff were nice and friendly. Dr. Van was very knowledgeable and you just know that he has been practicing dentistry for a long time. I can feel the confidence in him and he also made sure that my bite was done correctly. Moving here from the DC area, it was not easy for us to find a good doctor and dentist. I am glad that we got Dr. Van’s flyer in the mail. We finally found a good dentist.

I am a new patient. Earlier this month I had my first cleaning and yesterday I had to get two filings. I had a great experience and I wish I had found this office last year when I moved to green cove springs. I explained to the dentist that I do not do well when given epinephrine because my heart starts racing and beats irregularly which heightens my anxiety, however, Dr. Van explains why this happens and the purpose of using this medications as well as what to do when I start feeling my heart race and it really helped me relax. This was the first time a dentist ever took the time to explain this to me and to make me feel comfortable. Amanda, the dental assistant , was also very supportive to. I received a call from Dr. Van later yesterday evening ( I didn’t recognize the number but fortunately he left a msg and stated he was calling to follow up and see how I was doing) it’s the reason I decided to leave a review because I just feel like the office cares. I am thankful and looking forward to being a long standing patient!

Without introduction, without seeing his face a voice announces I need a crown on my chipped front tooth. I asked the voice if it could just be cosmetically patched . The voice said “no that would be a waste of my time” and then whomever was speaking left the room. His assistant brought me the price list and profusely apologized for his manner stating he was “military trained, not always like this, do you want to try another time.” I canceled further appointments told her I had never been dismissed so rudely and I will find another dentist to do whatever is ultimately required. This “voice” should learn how to speak with a public trusting him with their health and their money. Find someone else for this care there are many good dentists.

As a new patient to Family Smiles of Fleming Island I was totally impressed! Check in was a breeze. The dental hygienist, Courtney, was so friendly and professional. She listened to my concerns, offered advice, was very gentle doing the X-Rays and cleaning. Dr. Keith VanBenthuysen was so professional. You could see how his years of experience as a dentist makes him truly an excellent dentist. Actually he has awards that are posted in the waiting room that shows him being the Best of the Best. I recommend without hesitation this dental practice!

Today was my first appointment and the customer service was amazing! I’m excited about my next appointment! Courtney was so nice and explained everything to me so it was very easy to understand. Now the Doctor could come off a little intimidating but Courtney makes it all better.

Excellent visit Dr and his assistant were very kind and explained everything in detail which caused me to change my mind and agree with his treatment plan. Entire office very nice and very clean. Also I am new to the area so have had to find all new doctors and I am pleased to say that I went to Family Smiles of Fleming Island
