Wanted to take my 12 year old son to play some open gym pickleball since it's too cold to play outside. We were turned away because he is under 18. The reason given was insurance. Which was explained to be a different insurance than that which covers the kids that are in and out of there on a daily basis. But then I was told that I could rent out the gym and then he could play. It's all very confusing. Called city hall and the Public works director Mike Moore was no help. He assured me multiple times that "he is the one that makes the rules and he would not be changing this one". I just wanted to get my kid out of the house and do something active. He seems interested in playing pickleball. In his PE class they are currently playing pickleall so I thought that would be a perfect practice arena. Mike kept bring up the fact he would be playing adults. Which would lead to 1 of 2 outcomes. My kid would either get way better playing against adults, OR we would lose terribly and quickly and be out of the way. Regardless it wouldnt hinder anyones play. Great job Mike and thanks Village of East Alton!

Super nice people working there. Glad they are updating the pickleball courts. Wish they had a/c. A nice facility.

The older lady working the front desk gives me so many problems . She called the police on my little brother for touching a tree and told me , 18 yr olds that I can’t have my little brother in there when I am grown. You have to be over 18. When I can have a kid myself It’s very inconsiderate and unprofessional she’s the only worker that gives us this problem.

This place is an amazing set up for the kids in town. I wish we had something like this in Wood River.
