I had the pleasure of being a model at the Aveda Institute. Ashli Norris was my stylist and Ms Lyric was her instructor. The overall experience at Aveda was impeccable. I haven’t had much color in my life and I received a Demi color to cover the small amount of gray that I have. Ashli did such an amazing job, the shampoo was OMG so relaxing and my scalp has never felt cleaner. The color looks amazing, my hair is shiny and super bouncy. Ashli helped me to understand the color process, and the end result was impeccable.

I also love that Ashli looks like she’s ready for success. Her hair was nice, her makeup was beautiful and I felt like I was in a high end salon.
Her instructor Ms Lyric did an amazing job assisting the students from beginning to end, so over all Aveda gets a 10/10.

Way to go Ashli!!

I have been a loyal Aveda client for years, visiting salons across the country, but my experience at Aveda earlier this month was the absolute worst. I asked for layers, but what I left with was an uneven, choppy mess - and to make matters worse, a rat’s tail effect whenever I moved my hair to the front. For some reason, I had a student that is more skilled as a barber cutting my layers. The student also stated that they have never cut layers. It was so bad, I had to go get it fixed elsewhere.

I’ve been coming here for 4 years and each time I have been very understanding that this is a school, but for instructors to approve haircuts that are clearly not good is ridiculous. I’m a student so I have a budget, but at this point it’s better to spend extra money at a good salon than to come here.

I always have to spend 2-3 hours because instructors don’t come to the clients when the student asks for approval to move on to steps. Instructors are also not willing to listen to what you want - even if you bring tons of inspo videos and pictures.

This visit was my last straw. I cannot believe the lack of professionalism and skill at this location. Save yourself the heartbreak and go somewhere else.

Do not go here. I’ve been here twice and the most recent visit earlier this week they started cutting my hair and the refused to finish the haircut due to them finding a mole on my scalp that they claimed was “ringworm”. All while still charging me for a full haircut.
I immediately went to my dermatologist and they confirmed that I have normal moles on my scalp that have been there since birth (no other hair dresser has ever raised concern about this). On top of this, the
They did not finish the haircut so I’m left with a horrible choppy mess with no layering that they promised and still had to pay full price for my hair cut. The supervisor/instructor came over and was talking very loudly across the salon about my scalp “condition” and refusing me service. I don’t blame the student working on my hair but the supervisor/instructor was so uneducated that she couldn’t recognize a normal scalp mole from a ringworm. This Aveda salon is extremely uneducated and unprofessional. Do not waste your time and money here.

I had a great experience at Aveda! My first ever hair coloring experience was done by Julia who did an amazing job. She listened to my concerns and took every detail of what I wanted into account and it turned out even better than the inspiration pictures I showed her! Such hospitality! And a great experience from being greeted all the way to check-out!!

This is the third time I have visited the Aveda institute to get my haircut and partial highlights. The haircut always turns out well, however the highlights have been a hit or miss. This past time they turned out very poorly and I will not be returning. The instructors do not give the students the guidance that is needed. I was in the studio for over 5 hours to get my hair done, with the highlights turning out extremely blotchy. The student should have had more guidance from the instructor on how to properly perform highlights and use the correct technique. I understand they are students trying to learn but learning shouldn’t come from them messing up someone’s hair and the instructor trying to fix it afterwards, but from guidance from the instructors overlooking the process. There is not enough overlook from instructors for students that need it, especially when it comes to highlights. If you are looking to get your haircut it should turn out fine, but I would not go to the institute get any highlights done.

I have been taking my granddaughter here to have her hair done for several months and appointments but I won’t be back. Now if your ethnicity causes your hair to have to be combed through before being shampooed, you are billed an additional $15. I wasn’t told this when my appointment was confirmed. Instructor stated she was told in a huddle and the student stated that she didn’t know. I asked the front desk person and she seemed unconcerned that we were being discriminated against and said it’s the school who made the decision. I didn’t cause a scene but will never ever use them again. And the sad thing about it is this has never been an issue before but now there is a decision for a girl with curly coarse hair to be charged an extra fee. If it was a charge because of the length I could understand but simply because she said “we have to comb thru her hair so it won’t loc up”. This can only occur with ethnicity that has 3c hair. Very very disappointing and I will never refer anyone again as I have done and I hope no one has this experience again. Tonya Ekoué is my name

Aveda has been a staple in my haircare since ~2019. The staff are almost always extremely friendly and professional, and the hair treatment I have gotten has been well worth the price, which is much better than regular salons. I've convinced probably 7-10 friends to go there as well over the years and not one has had a bad experience.

To that point, some of my friends who have gone have been Trans or otherwise LGBT and they have all reported that Aveda always strives to serve them without misgendering, and with complete respect and support, so Bravo to that!

The student stylists are trained well to treat all types of hair. Instructors are readily available for guidance and assuring customers that they are getting quality hair services. Their prices are reasonable too!I would recommend Aveda for hair service and their products to anyone who asks.
