I recently moved to Bethesda at the end of the summer and immediately looked for a good barber. My first day here, I decided to take a chance on 8K after reading so many great reviews. After visiting myself, I will keep going back for the rest of my time here!

My first time here, I just went for whatever barber was feee first, which happened to be Luckee. I only waited for about 15 minutes before being seated. Luckee was fun to talk to but clearly knew what he was doing. There were also 4-5 other barbers who all seemed to have very happy customers. After my cut, I was extremely happy with results and decided I’d come back for sure.

Since then, I have made an appointment with Luckee every time, just calling about an hour before. However, I quickly realized he can get a little busy so on my last visit I decided to sit at Thang’s chair. Thang was so quick. I probably was done within 20-25mins. He was nice but not super talkative. My only complaint is I couldn’t see what he was doing until it was over, but when he turned my chair around, I was more than happy. A simple low fade with a trim off my top.

I will continue to come back here for all my cuts.

If there is one thing that Downtown Bethesda is not lacking, it is barber shops. After iterating through several barber shops (and my multiple barbers at each shop!) Brian at 8K is the only one that has figured out how to cut my hair. My hair is not the easiest to cut. I have coarse hair that just grows straight, two cowlicks, a receding hairline, and an oddly shaped head. Somehow Brian is able to make my hair look neat, full (no need to grow my hair out to comb over the receding hairline!), and stylable.

As more and more people discover Brian and 8K Barber Shop I have learned to call ahead and make an appointment. I always look forward to my next fresh cut at 8K - see you in a few weeks!

Asked for a short sides and a trim on top and they cut several inches off my head. Very unhappy with the haircut. Will not be going back. They did not follow directions and went on their own tangent. Only reason I went was bc my barber is on vacation and was in a desperate need for a cut. I wish I had waited the additional two weeks.

Velvet Peace

They do a wonderful job cutting hair of people of all races. Im black so i do not have fine hair, i dont know how her name but the lady at the second station did a really good job! I think the service is good for the price because they will wash your hair for an additional cost and I feel like I don’t see stylists offering that around me. I asked for a fade in the back and to just take everything down and she did a good job.

Jenny is the best. Always good service and nice people. Bryan is great too! Never had a bad haircut from them in the 12 years I’ve been going. Will have to come back to the area just for haircuts!!

This review is specifically for Thang, who is my favorite barber in America. Yep, you read that right - all of America!

I started going to Thang for cuts over 10 years ago when I lived in Bethesda and he was still at Jim’s Barber Shop. I followed him to 8K once he made the switch. Despite later moving into the District, I would always make the metro trip or drive out to Bethesda for a cut with Thang because I simply never found a better cut at a better price anywhere in the DMV. Since moving to Chicago and later to Seattle, I still can’t find a barber as reliably great as Thang, so I always make sure to stop in whenever I’m back in the area to visit.

Thang always delivers when I need a cut that I know will look good and hold up for weeks to come. He’s cut my hair for countless job interviews, big meetings, and even my wedding. I’ve always been amazed at Thang’s methodical attention to detail and ability to remember exactly what his clients like to do with their hair. At times, I’ve gone well over a year between visits to Thang. Without fail, no matter how much time has passed, not only does he remember me but he also remembers exactly what I like to do with my hair and delivers perfectly every time.

Great guy, excellent barber, unbeatable price - if you need a cut, go see my man Thang!
